New Sheetrock Installation

new dry wall installation tucson arizon

Sheetrock is a material made from pressed gypsum inserted between paper. It is primarily used as a finish for walls and ceilings and is known in construction as plasterboard or sheetrock. It is relatively easy to install and is easy to cut. Its reliability makes it a good choice for interior walls and ceilings. It can also be repaired with the right amount of knowledge of materials and craftsmanship.

Sheetrock is available in four different sizes: 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, and 5/8”. It comes in either 4’ x 8’ or 4’ x 12’ sheets. The common thickness is 1/2”, which comes in lightweight superior grade sag resistance for ceilings. 5/8” thickness is commonly used in garages and any walls that are joining to an exterior space.

We use coarse-headed screws to fasten sheetrock to the wood underneath. Once the sheetrock is installed we tape the seams with joint tape and coat the screw holes. After that, we apply coats of joint compound to the seams to prepare them for texture.

Our services include new sheetrock installation for small repairs to full remodels and room additions. Sheetrock installation is the first phase of the drywall process and starts after framing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC are completed.

Once the job is completed we scrape and haul all sheetrock from the job site. Unfortunately, sheetrock is not a candidate for recycling, but hopefully, that changes. We ensure all furniture, flooring, and workspaces are covered when installing sheetrock as it creates dust from installation. In new construction, this isn’t much of a problem but for remodels we make sure to cover up extensively.
